París | 2019
Project to restore the roof of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris following the unfortunate fire on April 15, 2019. Instead of a traditional reconstruction, a new roof is proposed which, taking the compositional rhythm of the existing structure as a reference, rests on it by means of a metal structure and glass enclosure, inspired by the cathedral’s iconic Gothic stained-glass windows.
The new spire consists of eight glass panels which, like a diamond, reflect light and project it into the interior of the building, becoming the point of connection between the exterior and the interior. The result is an interior that is open to the skies, which breathes and transforms with the environment.
